Cain & Able sought to approach God (Genesis 4). Now they were aware that they had to bring an offering, so Abel brought from his flock & Cain brought the fruit of the ground, the work of his hands. However Cain was seeking to come to God on Cain’s terms. But you cannot come to God Almighty on your own terms. Now Abel came to God on God’s terms; that is by Faith in Messiah (Hebrews 11:4), and God accepted Abel’s offering. In a fit of rage Cain murdered Able because God didn’t accept Cain’s own terms. Even today people will go into fits of rage because God won’t accept their own terms. But Jesus said “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14). Believe it !
In Satan’s first direct challenge to Eve, he Tricks her into doubting the goodness of God. If God lies to her, how can He be good? In Satan’s second challenge he Tricks Eve into doubting the evil of sin. If this fruit is something of a Treat for her, why doesn’t God want her to have it? Satan wants people to see sin as something good that an evil God doesn’t want us to enjoy. Satan’s main lie to mankind is “sin is not evil and God is not good.”
Satan, Sin, Self and Society will try a thousand Tricks on you, just to show you what a Treat it would be to disobey God.
In Genesis 2 we see God establishing the basic relationship between a man & a woman in marriage. He said: “Therefore a man shall leave his mother and father, and cleave to his wife: and the two shall become one flesh.” (Gen. 2:24) That is God’s foundation for the establishing of a marriage. Two become one. The deepest, and the most intimate bond, is the two becoming one in marriage. This is the foundation for Godly relationships. That’s the way God planned it, that’s the way God wants it to be.
Genesis is the Hebrew word for beginning. The Hebrew word used for “God” in Genesis 1 is Elohim, which is a plural noun used with a singular subject. The Hebrew language has singular nouns (El), dual nouns (Ela) and plural nouns, (Elohim). So this makes it clear, right from the beginning of His Story, that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit acted together to create the world. We also see in Genesis 1:26 that God said: “Let US make man in OUR image, according to OUR likeness.”
