In the Bible the image of a prostitute is used to signify false religions, betraying the Living God who loves them. So here in Revelation 17 we see a false religious system that has compromised itself to partner with the Beast. This Religious system is connected with the ten kings of the revived Roman Empire, & is centered around Rome. Rome was built on seven hills & is clearly described in verse 9. It is important to remember that the corrupt religious system coming out of Rome will be the church that exists after the Rapture. When you take all the Christians out of any church, what is left will be terrible. And that is what we have here. Pastor Chuck Smith 1927-2013
Throughout the judgments (Seals, Trumpets, Bowls)on the world it is declared “Just & true are Your Judgments!”(Rev 15) At the same time we see the consistent rebellion of mankind as they “blasphemed and did not repent.” (Revelation 16) – God’s judgment is righteous because man’s stubbornness is so unyielding. God has done everything He can to save mankind. Jesus died for the sins of the people. And yet, even when they experience the results of their sin, some of them still won’t repent. Nothing God does can bring them to repentance so they must go into the Lake of Fire. There is no other righteous thing God can do.
Throughout the account of God’s judgment on the world, as we see the wrath of the Lamb poured out, and the devastation, we are reminded again & again that what God does is Right. “Just and True are Your ways, O King of the Saints!” (Revelation 15) No one can honestly accuse God of not being fair. There may be things that don’t look fair to us, but we don’t know the whole story. Now when the whole story has been told, we will all declare that God was, and is fair and just. Whenever we come upon something we don’t understand, we must fall back on what we do understand; I know that God is Love. I know that God is True, I know God is just and right. In the end we will see just how Perfect He is. Pastor Chuck Smith 1927-2013
TheTorment of those who reject Jesus Christ, and those who take the mark of the Beast will last forever and ever (Revelation 14). People often ask “do you really believe God will torment those who reject His Christ forever? Do you believe in eternal punishment? Well, I will never take away from the words of the Bible! The end of the Book of Revelation says that if you take away from the words of the Bible, your name will be taken out of the Book of Life. (Revelation 22) I’m sure you don’t want that to happen to me, do you? I am going to leave the Word as it stands. Some people ask; “How long is forever and ever?” In Revelation 15:7 God is called the One who “lives forever and ever.” So the punishment will last as long as God lives. – – Pastor Chuck Smith 1927-2013
