10AM Sunday 6/25/17 – “Cup of Sorrow” Acts 14 – CD#1648

God uses ordinary men and women who are willing to partake of Jesus’ Cup of Sorrow (Mark 14:36). When the people of Lystra wanted to exalt Paul and Barnabas as ‘gods’ Paul begged them to stop, saying they were not gods, but ordinary men (Acts 14). When we read of the sufferings of the heroes of faith in the Old & New Testaments we tend to think of them as ‘super saints’. But God uses ordinary people to accomplish amazing work on earth. God wants to use us, but we must be available.  God is not looking for ability He is looking for ‘availability’.  God is looking for Christians willing to drink of His Cup of Sorrow for the joy set before them; just as Jesus drank of that Cup for His Bride, the church “…for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God”.   (Hebrews 12:2)
