Hebrews 8 “A New Relationship Of Love” August 30,2015 – CD#1568

THE NEW COVENANT BRINGS US INTO A RELATIONSHIP OF LOVE. Now the law of God is written on hearts. It is no longer based on our ability to keep the regulations of the law. Now it is based on the cross and on the faithfulness of God. And the wonderful thing is, now God is working in our hearts. Christ is changing our desires from within. And now, instead of longing for the things of the world we are longing for the things of the Spirit!  The glorious result is a real, intimate, personal relationship with Jesus our God. “I will be their God, and they shall be My people.”

Hebrews 7 – “The Law Is Lacking” -August 23, 2015 – CD#1567

JESUS IS A PRIEST OF A HIGHER ORDER THAN THE LEVITES, HE IS OF THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK. And that is the reason He can be our High Priest although He was not a Levite. (Hebrews 7)    The Levites represented the Law, and the Law is Lacking. There is nothing wrong with the law, but there is something wrong with people. And The law is unable to fix what is wrong. “The law makes nothing perfect.”

The law can reveal your sin, but it can’t take away your sin. It condemns you and shows you that you are guilty, but it can do nothing else. It still leaves you separated from God. But Jesus changed all that with The New Covenant.

Hebrews 6 “The Results of Immaturity” August 16, 2015 – CD#1566

“FOR YEARS I preached evangelistic, topical messages, on repentance, faith in God, baptism, and the life & death nature of the gospel. I never led the congregation to maturity in Christ, and so they were immature, babes in Christ because I was only feeding them milk. (Hebrews 6)                                            I read in Ephesians 4:11-15 the work of a pastor is to ‘equip the saints for the work of the ministry’. This changed my understanding of ministry, and I set out to make our people the best equipped & best taught Christians around. I began to teach through the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation.      In Acts 20:27 Paul told the Ephesian elders ‘I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God’.                 I can now say the same: ‘I have declared the whole counsel of God to you.’ There is a place for evangelism, & we share the gospel with those who haven’t heard, & we thank God for those who are saved, but the primary purpose of the church is to bring Christians to maturity”.  Pastor Chuck Smith – edited by Pastor Gary

Hebrews 5 “Learning Obedience” – 7/9/15 – CD#1565

SOMETIMES WE HAVE A HARD TIME UNDERSTANDING the concept that Jesus “learned obedience” and was “perfected.” But there are certain things you can only learn by experience. (Hebrews 5)                                                                             When Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, “Take this cup from Me,” He was expressing His own desire. But He didn’t stop there, because He was showing you and I how we should pray, as He went on to say, “Not My will, but Yours, be done” (Luke 22:42). He learned obedience as He submitted His will to the will of the Father, and we will also learn obedience when we submit our will to His. And so, Jesus was “perfected” or “made completely ready” to be our Savior.
